Large New Build Garden

We had the pleasure of building a fabulous garden for a couple who had recently moved to Topsham and wanted a zero maintenance garden that they could sit in and enjoy without having to worry about looking after it.  We used Fossil Buff natural sandstone for the main patio edged with paviers.  We installed an artificial lawn for Purdy the dog and a huge bespoke shed for tool storage.  We then created an additional seating area under a pergola which in time and with roses and wisteria growing over it, would provide a shady haven to sit in and listen to the sound of the water trickling over the Welsh slate water feature.

Small and Perfect

Sometimes the smallest garden projects can be the most satisfying.  We had a client in Sidmouth who had a small unloved rear courtyard but wanted to transform it into a contemporary space that they could create and outside dining space to entertain friends and family.  We decided to cover all the existing walls with beautiful Red Cedar slats which was a real labour of love but it looked totally fabulous.  We then used pale grey 600×600 porcelain paving to finish the sleek look.

Huge West Hill Transformation

We were lucky to work with a longstanding client on West Hill who wanted their garden to reflect their beautiful home.  With a busy family and a huge dog they needed it to serve many purposes whilst being robust and able to take the knocks of day to day family life whilst looking sleek and easy to manage as befitting the property.

We built a long snaking dry stone wall to make an 80foot raised bed along the back border, a beautiful new lawn infront leading to a perfectly curved paled grey porcelain patio.  With new side gates and fencing they could also rest assured that the dog would be safe too.

Steps with the WOW factor

A real favourite. An Ottery garden that was a challenge, but an absolute pleasure helped by a steady flow of bacon sandwiches from the lovely Liz. A multi-levelled garden that had been neglected over the years and needed a complete facelift. It evolved as we went along and we melded Autumn Brown Sandstone slab with oak sleeper steps and new paths. Also a large fan bespoke pergola to balance the whole garden in the opposite corner. A last-minute addition was a water feature created from a stainless steel blade using solar power to create the lovely sound of water, making the perfect backdrop for planting around it using ferns, iris and box hedging.

A room with a view

This client wanted to renovate her old and overcrowded garden and by removing some big shrubs and trees and creating two new patios. She is able to now entertain friends and sunbathe to her heart’s content whilst admiring the stunning view. We also rebuilt the steps leading from the house by refacing and surfacing them with timber and putting up rope balustrades.

A gym in the garden!

A 9m x 3m slab pad on which we built a tailor-made gym for a client in West Hill. The gym was built using treated softwood and featured double glazed windows and steel fittings. We then had lighting installed and built a small circular patio from Indian sandstone to the front, creating somewhere to sit after a hard workout. The look was completed after being painted inside and out in soft grey and white Farrow & Ball paint.

A front garden with wow factor – The Ying and the Yang

Lovely clients who wanted to transform their unexciting large front garden and make new pathways and steps up to the parking area. We used Fossil Buff paving with charcoal block paved edging.

We added oak sleeper steps to the garage and two new raised beds in the Ying and Yang shape created from beautiful sandstone walling. Perfect for new planting in the spring.

Vegetable heaven

A client in Wiggaton wanted some very large raised sleeper beds constructed from oak sleepers and surrounded with dark grey scalpings, giving easy path access to the beds. Start to finish in two days.

The full monty!

A large project in Sidmouth where the client needed the entire garden on all sides re-designed. We created a new lawn surrounded by a low hedge of Griscilinia interspersed with ten standard Photinias. This leads to the main rear patio constructed from Fossil Buff Indian Sandstone edged in cobbles to complete the look, with a small inset lawn to soften the seating area. Around the side of the property is a gravelled area using Chard 20mm stone which leads to a double driveway made from Fossil Buff 100x200mm cobbles. This was a true labour of love. We all but moved in and were on site for five weeks through rain and shine! A total transformation.

Driveway makeover

A new driveway created in Newton Poppleford out of Charcoal pavers with Fossil Buff paving in front of the front door, with additional parking from compacted chard chippings.

Playzone

Another new build garden where the clients have a little boy that had nowhere to play. We made the most of every inch by installing a new patio in Raj indian Sandstone with cobble edging, with a stepping stone path leading to the play area. We added seating opposite where Mum and Dad could keep an eye on him and enjoy a cuppa.

Pulled back from the brink

Now this was another treat. A lady had moved into a property in Newton Poppleford which had a neglected and unloved garden. Five days later she had a new sandstone wall on which to perch while she admired her new lawn, and planting which led to a storage area where we built a bespoke shed to fit some exact dimensions. We were lucky to be offered homemade cookies here – what a treat!
